Copthorne Carnival has been running for 53 years and is a highlight of the village calendar, organised by the Copthorne Village Carnival Club a dedicated group of volunteers who work hard each year to make the event happen.

Every year we help local organisations to raise funds for the great work they do in the village and everyone gets involved with over a hundred young people taking part in the Carnival each year.

It costs about £8000 to put the event, and to raise money to cover these costs the carnival committee are running a Grand Draw. This will be advertised in the Parish magazine and Carnival programme, delivered to over 2500 households.

Can you help? We are looking for prizes that will ‘Wow’ and help us to raise the much needed funds. The carnival attracts about 4000 people over the course of the day and the raffle normally sells about 3000 tickets. All prizes are credited with their donor’s names and the top three prizes are printed on all tickets. All companies who donate will also be mentioned on our facebook page which is followed by over 900 local people.

It costs about £8000 to put the event, these costs are normally covered by stall fee’s, programme advertising and the all-important bar sales.

Last year was more than a little but wet, but despite the deluge it was still a great event. The marching band played on through thunder and lightning and by the end of the day The Green had more mud than Glastonbury.

Because of this we did not raise as much money as normal.  In order to ensure that the event can be maintained, grown and improved for years to come we have decided that in 2017 the carnival committee will run the raffle themselves to raise money for future years.

Can you help? We are looking for prizes that will ‘Wow’ and help us to raise the much needed funds. The raffle normally sells about 3000 tickets and all prizes are credited with their donor’s names and the top three prizes are printed on all tickets.
